FREQUENTLY ASKED

WHAT IS LUMECCA?

Lumecca is an advanced intense pulsed light (IPL) treatment designed to improve the appearance of pigmented and vascular skin concerns. It uses targeted light energy to gently heat and treat unwanted pigment and visible blood vessels, helping to create a clearer, more even-looking complexion.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

In a series of 1–3 treatments, Lumecca can improve the appearance of:

  • Brown spots and sun-related pigmentation
  • Redness and rosacea
  • Vascular lesions such as facial telangiectasias (spider veins)
  • Freckles
  • Uneven skin tone and sun damage

WHAT AREAS CAN BE TREATED?

Lumecca may be used on many areas of the body. The most commonly treated areas are those frequently exposed to the sun, including the face, neck, décolletage, hands, arms, and legs.

HOW MANY SESSIONS ARE RECOMMENDED?

Many patients notice visible improvement after the first treatment. However, a series of sessions typically provides the best and most long-lasting results. Your treatment plan will be customized based on your skin type, level of pigmentation or redness, and treatment goals.

HOW QUICKLY WILL I SEE RESULTS?

Pigmented areas may darken initially and begin to flake off within several days. Most patients notice clearer, brighter skin within 1–2 weeks. For vascular concerns, improvement is often seen within up to 2 weeks as redness gradually fades.

WHAT STEPS SHOULD BE TAKEN BEFORE THE PROCEDURE?

Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning for at least 2–4 weeks prior to treatment. Additional preparation instructions will be reviewed with you before your appointment.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING AND AFTER LUMECCA?

During treatment, you may feel a brief snapping sensation similar to a light elastic band. Mild redness and warmth are normal and typically resolve within a few hours.Over the next 24–48 hours, pigmented spots may darken. In the following days, these areas naturally flake off, revealing a more even skin tone. For vascular treatments, treated vessels may blanch or temporarily change color before gradually fading.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?

Most patients experience minimal side effects. Temporary redness, warmth, or mild swelling may occur and typically resolve quickly.Your skin may be more sensitive to sunlight immediately after treatment, so diligent sun protection is essential.
